Get Ready to Celebrate Pride Month in June!
June was chosen as Pride Month as a tribute to those who were involved in the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York. It has blossomed into a huge event with celebrations happening around the world. The very first Pride March was held in New York City in 1970. This year, Pride Day will be June 28 with many celebrations going on throughout the month of June. It’s a special time of the year where we celebrate and recognize the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. It is a great time to learn more about the impact the LGBT+ community has had on our world and to celebrate diversity. You may want to learn more about LGBT+ history or celebrate as an ally who wants to learn more about forming a more inclusive society.
Pride Parade and Events
Throughout June and July, there will be lots of festivals, parades, and other events to celebrate. You may search for a Pride Parade near you, or you may choose to travel to another location anywhere around the world from Toronto to Singapore.
